This morning from the base of Sugar Loaf Mountain in the Urca neighborhood, board a cable car for a two-step journey to the top of Sugar Loaf. Enjoy splendid views of Guanabara Bay and its islands, the Rio-Niterói Bridge, Corcovado Mountain, Copacabana beach, Santa Cruz fortress, and more.(B)

Day 4, Rio de Janeiro
Today, optional sightseeing includes Angra dos Reis Schooner Cruise with lunch. Board a typical Brazilian schooner in the morning in Angra, and cruise the clear waters among the hundreds of islands south of Rio, stopping for swimming and lunch. Or as another option, ride up into the mountains into the cool moutain air outside of Rio to visit the Imperial Museum in Petropolis, the summer residence of Emperor D. Pedro II. Or, visit Rio's legendary Maracanã Stadium, getting behind the scenes of the most important soccer stadium in Brazil, learning about its history, great matches and star players.(B)

Day 5, Flight, Rio de Janeiro–Iguassu Falls
Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Iguassu Falls, one of the world’s most beautiful natural spectacles. This afternoon, you'll visit the Brazilian side of the falls. For those staying at the Belmond Hotel das Cataratas, the independent walking tour begins on the path in front of your hotel. If you're staying elsewhere, you will be brought inside the Brazilian National Park, and will be given ample time to journey along the path and enjoy this amazing site. (B)

Day 6, Iguassu Falls
The Argentine side of the falls offers a different perspective. This morning after breakfast, pass over the Iguassu River into Argentina. Walk through the Argentine National Park to the catwalk overlooking the Devil’s Throat, the most breathtaking view of the falls where the thundering water plunges 235 feet to the river below. This afternoon is free. You may wish to visit Itaipu Dam or a Paraguayan market.(B)

Day 7, Flight, Iguassu Falls–Manaus
Early this morning you'll transfer to the airport for your flight to the city of Manaus, capital of the State of Amazonas. Check into the Villa Amazonas Hotel, adjacent to the historic Teatro Amazonas Opera House. This afternoon on your city tour, visit the rubber–boom era Opera House, Indian Museum, floating docks, and busy local market. (B)

Day 8, Manaus
This morning you’ll board an Amazon riverboat and cruise to the “meeting of the waters,” where the dark waters of the Rio Negro meet the muddy waters of the Rio Solimões, forming the Amazon River. The riverboat will stop and you'll have a chance to hike through jungle terrain. After a delicious lunch featuring fresh local cuisine, you’ll have a closer look at the Amazon’s fauna and flora, exploring tiny branches of the river, returning to your hotel by late afternoon.
