Site where Brazil was discovered in 1500 by portuguese navigator Pedro Cabral. Porto Seguro has since avoided development and maintained its natural essence. The Bahian climate, beaches north of town, and active nightlife make Porto Seguro, a favorite vacation destination for Brazilian and international toursists. Shops are open at peculiar hours in Porto Seguro: many outlets and handcrafts stores are open until midnight. The celebration goes on along the city’s coastline with lots of reggae, fun parties and live music. Many beach bars offer great music shows with national and foreign attractions. Porto Seguro still offers untouched landscapes, with calm beautiful beaches, the city has some 90 km of coastline taken by coral reefs, including also coves, rivers and creeks, coconut tree plantations and the gorgeous Atlantic Forest.
