The Santuário do Bom Jesus de Matosinhos is a complex of churches and chapels built in the 18th century, featuring a series of 12 life-size sculptures depicting the Passion of Christ. These sculptures were carved by the renowned artist Aleijadinho, who is considered one of the greatest sculptors in the history of Brazil.
