Day 1: Flight, USA – Rio de Janeiro
Depart on an overnight flight to Brazil and to Rio de Janeiro, A Cidade Maravilhosa — the Marvelous City.

Day 2, Rio de Janeiro
Arrive in Rio and get settled into your hotel. This afternoon, you will be taken to the neighborhood of Urca to the base of Sugar Loaf Mountain. You’ll travel all the way to the top in two steps by cable car, and enjoy splendid views of Guanabara Bay and its islands, the Rio-Niterói Bridge, Corcovado Mountain, Copacabana beach, the Santa Cruz fortress and several beaches of Niterói. Day 3, Rio de Janeiro
Today you will take the cog railway to the peak of Corcovado Mountain, where the statue of Christ the Redeemer (voted one of the Seven Wonders of the World) overlooks the city from a height of 2,300 feet. Enjoy the panoramic view of Rio including its famous beaches and Guanabara Bay. Your descent will bring you through the lush Tijuca Forest, the world’s largest urban forest. (B)

Day 4, Rio de Janeiro
Today you will visit various points of interest in the city of Rio de Janeiro using the Metro system, with your English-speaking guide. (B)

Day 5, Flight, Rio de Janeiro–Iguassu Falls
This morning after breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Iguassu Falls, one of the world’s most beautiful natural spectacles. After hotel check-in and lunch, you'll visit the Brazilian side of the falls this afternoon. For those staying at the Orient Express Hotel das Cataratas, the independent walking tour begins on the path in front of your hotel. If you're staying at the Bourbon or other hotel, you will be brought inside the Brazilian National Park, and will be given ample time to walk along the path and enjoy this amazing site. (B)

Day 6, Flight, Iguassu Falls–Buenos Aires
The Argentine side of the falls offers a different perspective. After checking out of your hotel, pass over the Iguassu River into Argentina. Walk through the Argentine National Park to the catwalk overlooking the Devil’s Throat, the most breathtaking view of the falls where the thundering water plunges 235 feet to the river below. This afternoon, your flight to Buenos Aires departs from the nearby Argentine–side airport. Check into your Buenos Aires hotel and enjoy your evening at leisure. (B)

Day 7, Buenos Aires
Today you will embark on a journey through the city’s various neighborhoods and sights, including the colorful La Boca district, Plaza del Mayo, La Casa Rosada, Recoleta Cemetery, the burial site of Eva Peron, and many others. This evening you may want to enjoy one of the many restaurants located in the Puerto Madero area on the riverfront. Included this evening is your dinner and Tango Show at the authentic El Querandi Restaurant, featuring live orchestra and sensual, lively dancers performing the Tango, just for you. (B, D)

Day 8, Buenos Aires
Today you'll journey north of the city into the Pampas for a barbecue lunch and Fiesta Gaucha. The Fiesta Gaucha day trip takes you through the scenic pampas countryside outside Buenos Aires to the estancia, where you'll take a tour of the ranch and experience the gaucho lifestyle. Your traditional asado barbecue is accompanied by traditional Argentinean empanadas, wines and the distinctive music and dance of the gauchos. On Sundays, the tour includes a stopover at the San Telmo Fair, where you can browse antique stalls for bargains and watch dancers, singers and other street entertainers. (B, L)

Day 9, Flight, Buenos Aires–USA
Relax this morning and enjoy your day at leisure. Your homebound overnight flight departs late–afternoon. (B)
